Fortnite's New Weapon: The Clinger

The end of the second season of Fortnite is almost upon us, but that hasn’t stopped Epic Games from dishing out the updates. The latest update version 3.6 has brought us a new weapon known as “The Clinger.” The half plunger half grenade works as a sticky grenade that attaches to the first surface it comes in contact with and deals some pretty hefty damage. We’ve seen sticky bombs in shooters time and time again, from Halo, Call of duty, and beyond, and it’s likely because they are so much fun to use.

So how does Fortnite’s take on the sticky grenade compare to the rest? The answer is really REALLY well. The Clinger grenade is a perfect addition to Fortnite’s already ridiculous arsenal. Of course, the standard grenades are fine, but there isn’t as much satisfaction when using them. I won’t speak for everyone, but when I use them it’s basically just me chucking them at random and hoping for the best, or at my most calculated, tossing one towards some fool who has boxed himself in without a roof. Now with the Clinger grenades, there is a significantly higher chance of effectiveness as well as the satisfaction of seeing your plunger grenade stick onto some sad helpless enemy. I think what Fornite has done with the sticky grenade formula is a welcome step in the right direction. In fact, I would love to see some epic or legendary level grenades that are equally as fun to use as the Clinger.

Hopefully, Fortnite recognizes just how fun and satisfying use the Clinger grenades are and institutes some new challenges in the upcoming season and maybe even a new limited time game mode as well. For now, hop online and enjoy “sticking it” (I’m sorry I couldn’t resist) to some bad guys, and prepare for some wacky content from your favorite streamers.
