Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 New Focus On Game Play

The reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on May 17, 2018, had many new surprises for all of its fans. One of the biggest was the announcement that this shall be the first mainline Call of Duty to ship with no Campaign mode in the series. Quite the shocker, since 2003 Call of Duty has had some of the biggest cinematic, most directed, and heartfelt single player campaign modes in the FPS genre, but with the loss of the campaign mode players have gained the new “Blackout” mode which is Call of Duty’s first ever battle royal mode!

Blackout mode will put players against one another in a fight to be the last person standing. Treyarch revealed that Blackout will be playable solo or in squads just like Fortnite and PUBG. Treyarch have said that this is going to be one of the biggest maps they have ever created! With such a big map they even added a touch of nostalgia, with locations being old maps that are directly from the previous black ops games. As well as map locations there will be weapons that veteran players will recognize, one being the good old RC car!  Another feature Blackout will have is land, air, and sea vehicles, as well as being able to play as Hudson, Reznov, Mason, and other playable characters from the series! Only one mystery the developers have not announced is how many players will Blackout be able to support on its map?

So much anticipation for how Treyarch will deliver on the new battle royale mode, which seems to be focusing on incorporating elements form the whole series into this game mode. This title will release on October 12, 2018 and will be available on Ps4, Xbox one, and PC for all gamers to enjoy. Treyarch has announced a beta for black ops 4 later during this year, but the exact details have not been released quite yet.
