Call of Duty League Major IV Qualifiers Week 1 Day 1 Recap
The road to Major IV officially began on Friday as teams returned to action looking to build momentum heading into the final stage of the regular season. Three matches highlighted the opening day of qualifiers, with Carolina Royal Ravens, G2 Minnesota, and OpTic Texas all securing convincing victories.
Carolina Royal Ravens Sweep Toronto KOI
The Carolina Royal Ravens opened their Major IV campaign with a dominant 3-0 victory over Toronto KOI.
The series began on Sake Hardpoint, where Carolina controlled the pace throughout the map. Toronto managed to stay competitive for stretches, but the Ravens consistently won key rotations and held strong setups to secure a 250-178 victory.
On Fringe Search & Destroy, Carolina continued their strong play. The Ravens found early picks in several rounds and maintained control of the map, closing out a 6-4 win to move within one map of the series.
Toronto showed more life on Gridlock Overload, pushing the Ravens throughout the objective game mode. However, Carolina remained composed in the closing moments and secured a narrow 3-2 victory to complete the sweep.
With the win, Carolina starts Major IV qualifiers 1-0 while Toronto KOI falls to 0-1.
G2 Minnesota Defeat Cloud9 New York 3-1
G2 Minnesota earned an impressive opening victory over Cloud9 New York, taking the series 3-1.
The matchup started with one of the closest Hardpoints of the day on Den. Minnesota narrowly escaped with a 250-240 victory after a back-and-forth battle that went down to the final hill.
Minnesota carried that momentum into Fringe Search & Destroy, where they displayed excellent teamwork and clutch plays to secure a 6-3 win and take a commanding 2-0 series lead.
Cloud9 responded on Den Overload, putting together their strongest performance of the series. New York controlled the objective and earned a convincing 6-2 victory to keep the match alive.
Any hopes of a reverse sweep were quickly shut down in Game 4. Minnesota dominated Scar Hardpoint from start to finish, overwhelming Cloud9 in every phase of the map and cruising to a 250-109 victory to close out the series.
The win gives G2 Minnesota an important first victory in Major IV qualifiers, while Cloud9 New York starts the stage searching for answers.
OpTic Texas Continue Strong Form Against Vancouver Surge
OpTic Texas carried over their recent momentum with a clean 3-0 sweep of Vancouver Surge.
The Green Wall came out firing on Sake Hardpoint, completely controlling the map and limiting Vancouver's opportunities throughout the game. OpTic secured a dominant 250-98 victory to open the series.
Hacienda Search & Destroy proved much more competitive. Vancouver battled throughout the map and pushed OpTic to the limit, but Texas managed to edge out a 6-5 win in a tightly contested game.
The final map, Den Overload, saw another competitive performance from the Surge. Despite Vancouver's efforts, OpTic once again found the crucial plays when it mattered most, earning a 5-3 victory to complete the sweep.
The result gives OpTic Texas a strong start to Major IV qualifiers and reinforces their position as one of the league's most dangerous teams heading into the final stage of the season.
