OpTic Texas Survive Championship Sunday Thriller to Win Call of Duty League Major IV

Championship Sunday at Call of Duty League Major IV delivered everything fans could ask for: reverse pressure, clutch Search and Destroy moments, dominant Hardpoint performances, and a seven-map Grand Final that went all the way to the final map. By the end of the day, OpTic Texas stood on top, taking down the Los Angeles Thieves in a dramatic 4-3 Grand Final to claim the Major IV championship.

The day opened with Paris Gentle Mates and FaZe Vegas battling in a five-map elimination series. FaZe started strong on Sake Hardpoint, taking Map 1 by a score of 250-172. Paris answered immediately on Gridlock Search and Destroy, edging out a 6-5 win to even the series. The Gentle Mates then grabbed a tight 5-4 victory on Exposure Overload, putting FaZe on the brink.

FaZe refused to go away quietly. On Scar Hardpoint, they dominated from start to finish, winning 250-125 and forcing a decisive Map 5. But with the series on the line, Paris delivered their best Search and Destroy performance of the match. The Gentle Mates closed out Fringe SnD 6-2, eliminating FaZe Vegas and keeping their Championship Sunday run alive.

Next came OpTic Texas against the Los Angeles Thieves, with a spot in the Grand Final on the line. The Thieves came out firing and controlled the series from the start. On Den Hardpoint, Los Angeles took Map 1 250-181, setting the tone early. Raid Search and Destroy was much closer, but the Thieves clutched up late to win 6-5 and take a 2-0 series lead.

OpTic needed a response on Scar Overload, but Los Angeles once again found the final plays when it mattered most. The Thieves won Map 3 6-5, completing the 3-0 sweep and sending OpTic into the elimination bracket.

That set up an elimination match between OpTic Texas and Paris Gentle Mates. Paris had already survived one five-map battle earlier in the day, but OpTic looked much sharper in their second series. Map 1 on Scar Hardpoint was one of the closest maps of the tournament, with OpTic narrowly escaping 250-247. That map felt like the turning point. Instead of Paris carrying momentum from their earlier win, OpTic stole control of the series.

From there, Texas tightened up. They took Hacienda Search and Destroy 6-2, then closed the series on Scar Overload with a 3-2 win. The 3-0 sweep sent OpTic back into the Grand Final, giving them another shot at the Los Angeles Thieves.

The Grand Final started with a completely different version of OpTic from the team that had been swept earlier. On Den Hardpoint, Texas dominated the Thieves 250-95, making an immediate statement. But Los Angeles answered in Search and Destroy, taking Sake SnD 6-4 to even the series.

The Thieves then took control on Scar Overload, winning 7-3 and moving ahead 2-1 in the series. OpTic responded on Scar Hardpoint in one of the closest maps of the final, edging out a 250-243 win to tie the Grand Final 2-2. Every map felt like it could swing the championship.

Los Angeles regained the lead on Den Search and Destroy with a convincing 6-2 win, putting OpTic one map away from defeat. But Texas stayed alive on Gridlock Overload, winning a tense 4-3 map to force a final Game 7.

With the championship coming down to Gridlock Search and Destroy, OpTic delivered their cleanest performance of the series. Texas controlled the pace, won the key opening fights, and closed the map 6-1. After being swept earlier in the day by the same opponent, OpTic completed the comeback when it mattered most.

It was a Championship Sunday defined by resilience. Paris Gentle Mates survived FaZe Vegas in a five-map battle before falling to OpTic. Los Angeles Thieves looked like the strongest team early, sweeping OpTic and pushing the Grand Final to the limit. But in the end, OpTic Texas found another gear, winning the final two maps of the tournament and sealing Major IV with a 4-3 Grand Final victory.

OpTic Texas leave Major IV as champions, but the road there was anything but easy. They had to recover from a 3-0 loss, beat Paris in elimination, survive a seven-map Grand Final, and close the tournament with a dominant Map 7 Search and Destroy. On Championship Sunday, that kind of composure made the difference.
