ESports Summer Camp

There’s a camp for everything, and now, there’s one for competitive gaming. Asylum Gaming and Esports (AGE) announced Wednesday it would be featuring a summer camp for Fortnite and Overwatch this summer.

Running from July 30 to August 3, the camp will run daily sessions for campers to learn more about professional video gaming. Campers will get to see an inside look on the world of professional gaming and what it takes. They will also receive coaching sessions with professional players and participate in industry discussions about Fortnite and Overwatch.

“We feel this is a tremendous opportunity for today’s gamers to experience real-time pro coaching on games that are sweeping the world,” said Norm Laviolette, CEO of A.G.E, in a statement.

However, the camp isn’t just for anyone, getting in may be as competitive as the video games themselves. Asylum Gamin will only be accepting 54 students between the ages of 13 and 18 with a cost of $660 per person. The camp will be held in Showcase Live at 23 Patriot Place in Foxborough, MA. Lunch will also be provided by Five Guys during camp, or participants can opt out and pack their own lunch to receive a $10 discount on the camp.

The camp will run daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Students will open the day with 30 minute warm ups and then head straight into their first an hour long scrimmage session. Students will have a second scrimmage session following lunch and will receive notes during this time before ending the day with industry discussions.

AGE does note that players will receive an hour and a half lunch and outside time, encouraging campers to take a break from the gaming action. The camp also sets aside two 15 minute break times during the gamers 3-hour scrimmage session.
