Fortnite Accused of Swiping Employees

Fortnite has left trade one screen for another as it crossed over to battle its competitor in the twitter-sphere. In a tweet posted by Boss Key Productions co-founder Cliff Bleszinski, Fortnite was accused of attempting to swipe employees from the former Epic Games design director.

Bleszinski didn’t publicly call out any employees who had made the jump or were some of the few who Epic Games had attempted to poach from his team. Some fans however took things lightly, calling Bleszinski’s failure to provide proof of his accusations. Other fans suggested it may be Boss Key’s fault for not being able to compete with Epic’s opportunities and facilities.

The twitter-sphere appears to have sided with Fortnite on the debate. Many respondents questioned why Bleszinski was shocked to see employees hoping to gain employment from a bigger company while others questioned how Boss Key Productions forgot a non-compete clause in its contract. However, most sided with Epic for having created the game originally with Boss Key reproducing the studios ideas and stealing their servers.

Fortnite has remained silent about Blezinski’s accusations and have yet to release a comment on the situation. However, the fans feel Epic did nothing wrong, should the accusations be proven true.

Some fans simply enjoyed watching the battle coming off the gaming screen and into the real world.

One former employee of Boss Key chose to speak out and respond to the tweet, stating, “With all due respect, assuming that Epic is the one starting contact / poaching is a bit presumptuous.” He goes on to say that they all had their individual reasons for leaving BKP behind and making the jump to Epic. He even went as far as calling out Bleszinski for treating those who left as commodities, saying “to act like we are commodities being stolen is a bit hurtful. We are people first and foremost.”

Epic games remains silent on the matter, and they don’t seem to need to make a statement as fans continue to rally behind Fortnite and continue to grow the platform. Epic Games is wrapping up the video game’s third season and is hinting at a big conclusion to its finale.
