The New Hearthstone Game Mode

Hearthstone released Monster Hunt on April 26 as a free new game mode apart of The Witchwood expansion. Very similar to the Dungeon Run mode released with the Kobolds & Catacombs expansion game mode, Monster Hunt highlights some of the Gilnean inhabitants. The free game mode can be accessed through the Solo Adventures menu. The goal of Monster Hunt is to defeat all 8 monsters you encounter and not be killed.

In this mode, you will get to play as 4 unique Monster Hunters that have unique hunter powers. Each hunter has their own loot that only they can get once they have defeated a boss. You can choose to be Tess Greymane, who is the Tracker, the Cannoneer Darius Crowley, Toki, the Time-Tinker or Houndmaster, the Shaw.

After you pick which Monster Hunter you want to be you will receive a fixed, 10-card deck, and you will have to fight up to 8 bosses. There are 45 new boss characters, each with their own unique powers and dialogue. The monster boss encountered at each level is random for each Monster Hunt. Some bosses are able to appear on multiple levels with a different starting Health, Hero Power, and deck but you will not see the same boss twice. The Nemesis characters are unique bosses that match up with the four playable characters. The final boss, Hagatha the Witch, will unlock after each Nemesis has been defeated but it will take all four characters to beat her.

If one of the monster bosses kill you, you will have to start from the beginning but your health will increase as you progress to help you stay alive much longer. As you defeat each boss you will get the chance add additional cards and treasures into your deck. Treasures can either be powerful cards added to your deck or permanent passive effects. You will also receive card sets called buckets, which will allow you to choose one of 3 sets of 3 cards to put into your deck, that are designed to fit a certain theme or strategy.

Since the releases, there have been a great amount of tips, tricks, and strategies released on blog and community post to help you beat Monster Hunt. There are 4 Witchwood card packs up for grabs through the Monster Hunt game mode and you earn a unique Monster Hunt card back. This mode is only available for a limited time so if you want to have the chance to defeat Hagatha the Witch, you should begin your hunt soon. Happy hunting!
