Warzone Leak Hints Expanded Liberty Fall

According to well-known Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope, Warzone is expected to get a brand-new Resurgence map with the launch of Season 1 and the integration of Black Ops 7 later this year.

The map is said to be an expanded version of Liberty Falls, a fictional West Virginia town that first appeared as a Zombies map when Black Ops 6 launched. Since both Shattered Veil and Reckoning are also set in the same location, there’s a chance we could see all three tied together for the first time.

Hope initially suggested on August 23 that the map might be another Treyarch creation, but later clarified on August 25 that it would specifically be an extended Liberty Falls—designed by Treyarch themselves.

Adding to this, another reliable insider, Reality, confirmed that the new Warzone map does indeed take place in Liberty Falls and will include areas such as Shattered Veil. They also noted it was originally planned for Black Ops 6 but was delayed until BO7’s Season 1.

Mixed Playtest Reactions

Feedback so far has been divided. Hope mentioned that players who tested the map in-person “didn’t really like it,” comparing it unfavorably to the widely criticized Area 99 Resurgence map from Black Ops 6. That map was pulled from Warzone just five months after release, leaving Rebirth Island as the only Resurgence option.

On the other hand, Reality has heard conflicting impressions, suggesting the new Liberty Falls expansion “actually plays okay.”

Bigger Warzone Picture

This leak also lines up with other reports that Verdansk will remain in Warzone during Black Ops 7’s integration. While early rumors pointed to the new Avalon map launching with CoD 2025, it now seems Avalon is being used exclusively for the campaign’s Co-Op Endgame mode, not multiplayer.

What’s official is that Season 1 will bring Black Ops 6 weapons and Operators into BO7, along with fresh Warzone content. Historically, every Warzone integration has included either a new Resurgence map or a new Battle Royale map, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see this Liberty Falls expansion arrive later in 2025.

We’ll likely learn more at the Call of Duty Next event on September 30, where creators will get hands-on with Black Ops 7 ahead of the game’s beta.
