Call of Duty Coming to Switch

Call of Duty is officially on its way to the Nintendo Switch, following its announcement for the platform back in 2023, and it may be arriving much sooner than expected.

Because of its demanding gameplay and large file sizes, Call of Duty has traditionally remained on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, with only select experiences making their way to mobile for players who wanted to access Warzone on the go. Those technical limitations made a Switch release seem unlikely for years.

That is changing with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. The upgraded hardware offers the performance needed to support Call of Duty’s fast-paced action. Until recently, however, there had been no indication of when the franchise would actually arrive on the new system.

According to Windows Central executive editor Jez Corden, the first Call of Duty release for Switch is nearly finished and expected to launch within the next few months. He explained that development was previously delayed due to a lack of access to Switch 2 development kits, which prevented the port from moving forward.

With those issues now resolved, the Switch 2 version of Call of Duty appears close to completion. While neither Activision nor Nintendo has confirmed an official release date, the game is widely expected to arrive sometime in 2026, bringing a full Call of Duty experience to a portable console.

It is still unclear which title will be released on the platform. Some believe Warzone is the most likely option due to its mobile-friendly design, while others are hoping for Black Ops 7 to experience the latest multiplayer maps and Zombies mode. For now, fans can only wait, but Call of Duty on Switch 2 appears to be closer than ever.
