A Fortnite-like Model by Rocket League

Rocket league may have something on the horizon for gamer which is somewhat like Fortnite. The in-game currency can be used as a tradeoff replacement of real-world money. This will be seen implemented on Xbox very soon; as was revealed by Psyonix.

Rocket League’s latest updates patch notes have revealed this very enabling feature of the game. The currency is explained as one key is worth $1 in the game but doesn’t vary systematically. The keys in the game are for opening crates in this game and were the microtransaction for cosmetics in the game.

Xbox has been lagging behind as PS4 is way ahead in this trading system. This was because Microsoft was completely against gamers swapping digital offerings of the game, which were bought with real money. Now obviously this has changed as the developers of the Xbox game would be in violation of Microsoft’s platform.

The trading of items in this game will bring Xbox on par with other platforms like PC and PS4. Price of items for Xbox will also be affected as they were being sold on inflated rates due to their nature of being rare. These prices will naturally be seen dropping as gamers will now seek these items using real money.

The long-term perspective of this update is even more interesting. There is a possibility of cross-platform trades as the prices are now at par and because all platforms allow trade. This evolution of gaming gives us a glimpse of the future of the gaming industry, and it seems very immersive, doesn’t it?

Rocket League may also take it a step further from simple trading. Players will be given ID’s which will work as a unique identifier of players for trades. This will help players connect with whomsoever they wish to and make sure accounts are kept safe and separate.

The first offering of the Rocket Pass system will cost gamers 10 keys and will be offered later this summer. This rocket pass can, therefore, be affordable as players will now trade keys for in-game currencies. If these keys could come from other games and platforms sooner, then getting the rocket pass wouldn’t be a hassle at all. The system, however, may sound quite familiar.

Fortnite was the pioneer in this trading system as they offered Battle Passes in the very same manner. This game is the most successful game in the world and their gamer’s progress was made easy due to this trading system. We won’t be surprised if Epic Games wouldn’t want to merge with Rocket League for inter-game trades; that’ll be quite a sight!

The senior vice president of Psyonix, the developer of Rocket League, has already refused chances of Rocket League having cross-platform trading in the near future. He was very stern in saying that they don’t have permission for this but doesn’t that mean they intended to explore this opportunity? Let’s see how things turn out, but first, let’s trade keys for the Rocket pass!
