An Alternative for Call of Duty: Warface

Crytek is moving up in the world of games with Hunt: Showdown, but you may not have found out about Warface yet. This first-person-shooter is free to play and was in the works since 2013. Now, this highly anticipated game is coming out for Xbox One and PS4 in September.

With slightly different visuals and F2P foibles, this game may actually be a fun replacement of Call of Duty. The game features the same first-person-shooter modern warfare theme, alongside the dirt, sand and camouflage gear. When it comes to details, animation, and textures, Crysis may actually be the better alternative.

While we are on the subject of Crysis however, Warface does offer the ability to modify your arsenal in the middle of a fight. You can change scopes or add silencers when it calls for it (or whenever you wish to) and make your own brand of gun specifications from the options provided.

The same tight spaces and quick respawns which are brilliantly featured in Call of Duty can be found here as well. The difference, however, is that this game wants you to stick to your team where Call of Duty was all about lone wolfing.

The gameplay allows for a few classes to choose from. Some of these classes are the sniper, rifleman, engineer or medic. All these classes have unique weapons and form the team which you are supposed to stick with throughout. An example of the need for your team is the double climb maneuver in the game. This maneuver allows for a person to climb onto a structure first and then help you get there.

There is a bit of obvious difficulty in the game, however. For example, receiving a headshot does not only cause a fatal loss of health but completely kills you off. When you are respawned, another problem is that you are back amidst the firefight. This may also be the upgrade that some expert gamers were waiting for, but for someone who has been following Call of Duty for some time, this may be annoying.

Warface also features a mode of the game called Special Operations which seems interesting enough to be mentioned. This part of the game will have you implementing themed raids, again with the cooperation of your team in a PvE mission. Unlike Call of Duty, this version of the game features unorthodox enemies. Don’t be surprised to find yourself going up against killer robots or creepy zombies. That’s not all. One surprising raid actually features you against an Egyptian temple!

Taking into account that this game is free to play, you should expect the annoying in-game transactions. Other than this, however, there is a lot of guaranteed ‘Call of Duty like’ content, without having to spend anything!
