Overload Gets Some Key Tweaks in Season 01
With the Season 01 update dropping on December 4, 2025, Overload the 6v6 mode where teams fight to carry the Overload/EMP device into enemy zones has received several important adjustments aimed at improving balance, clarity, and pacing.
What’s Changed

Overtime added. At the end of the first half, if a player is carrying the EMP device, they get an extra 30 seconds to “overload” the enemy zone or be killed. This overtime mechanic is also triggered at the end of a match but only if the carrier’s team is trailing by 1 point.

Weapon restriction for carriers. Players carrying the EMP device are now forced to switch to a pistol (Secondary). If they don’t have one in their loadout, the game supplies a backup pistol automatically. This change is meant to limit runaway gunfights while carrying the device.

Bug fixes & UI improvements The update addresses a bug where carriers wouldn’t respawn properly during sudden death. It also fixes issues with score-feed events (such as “Killed Device Carrier” and “Station Overloaded”) not displaying correctly.
Why It Matters
These tweaks show the developers recognised some of the early frustrations with Overload’s pacing, balance, and clarity. Adding overtime gives trailing teams a chance instead of abrupt ends, while forcing a pistol for the EMP-carrier encourages tactical play over straightforward gunfights and reduces the chance of the carrier dominating solely due to weapon advantage. The bug and UI fixes clean up the inconsistency and make match flow smoother overall.
