What's Next For Playstation?

The news almost seems inevitable now, but at some point during 2018 it will ultimately become official. Sony will probably be planning to release the next rendition of the popular PlayStation gaming console before the end of 2019 in order to keep pace with its eternal rival, Microsoft’s Xbox, as well as the growing popularity of PC gaming.

The latest news about the PlayStation seems to be the fact that a new update was released which is designed to bring the console on par with the quality of the devices that it is meant to be connected to. It also offered people an insight into what can be achieved when you mix in the technology of today with the immense resources available at the helm of Sony.

Fans have been vocal on their end, making it clear what new features and options they want in the supposed PlayStation 5. It has to be kept in mind that, for now, this is all just pure speculation. However, there is hope that in the near future it can become reality because of the resources that now exist which didn’t 5 years ago.

So, here are just some of the possible features that will be introduced in the next PlayStation.

4K Support

It’s long been at the top of the expectations that many fans have had when it comes to what features they would like to see in the next PlayStation. The PS4 Pro was an excellent example of what 4K gaming can be. But sadly, for now at least, that’s all that it remains; a hopeful insight into what 4K gaming could be like, not the real thing.

There are televisions now that can fully support 4K gaming, so it makes sense that Sony will realize the immense potential that they’re missing out on and assimilate that feature as soon as possible. The PS4 can produce 4K but it has sacrifice resolution in order to keep the performance constant. There is a sense that the new PlayStation will set new standards in this regard.

VR

The next big thing in human achievement is upon us and its early success can already be witnessed all around us. There are multiple reasons why VR will change the world and everything in it just link the railways, telephone and the Internet once changed it. It gives the concept of an immersive environment an entirely new meaning. Sony became the first gaming console to incorporate VR into its platform courtesy of the PlayStation VR.

The spectacular success of the PlayStation VR means that Sony will know that its customer base is completely ready for this new feature and it’s probably a good bet to assume that the next PlayStation will take VR to a completely new level.

Optical discs

It’s been debate that’s been raging on since the release of PS2. Downloadable games continue to rise in both popularity and become one of the best ways for anyone to acquire not just the games themselves but additional content as well.

However, the belief is that the next PlayStation will probably not be the first console to make that leap of faith. Sony will probably keep an ear out for what Microsoft intends to do with its Xbox launch and take a somewhat similar approach. For now, it’s simply a pipe dream.
