What we definitely know

These are the confirmed details from official sources:

  • Return to round-based Zombies: Black Ops 7 will bring back the traditional round-based Zombies mode. 

  • Setting: Dark Aether: Zombies maps will take place in the Dark Aether. The story from BO6 continues into BO7 in that dimension. 

  • Biggest Zombies map ever: The launch map is claimed to be the largest round-based Zombies map in franchise history. 

  • New vehicle-transport mechanic: There is a “Wonder Vehicle” that players will build to travel between zones on that big map (kind of like TranZit’s transport system but with new twists). 

  • Survival Maps are returning: Smaller, self-contained map sections focused purely on endurance/survival against waves of zombies. 

  • Dead Ops Arcade returns: The arcade-style top-down mode is coming back (Dead Ops Arcade 4). 

  • OG Zombies crew returning in alternate form: Richtofen, Nikolai, Dempsey, and Takeo will reappear (alternate versions) and cross paths with the BO6 crew (Weaver, Grey, Maya, Carver). 

  • Changes to movement and gameplay: The Zombies mode will incorporate some of the new movement innovations from multiplayer (Omnimovement enhancements) and remove Tactical Sprint by default, among other tweaks. 

Rumors / Likely features

These are less certain but supported by sources that are somewhat credible or consistent:

  • Multiple maps post-launch: There are leaks and speculation that BO7 Zombies may get 6 round-based maps over its lifecycle. 

  • Variety of settings: Potential map themes include locations like Vietnam, a Dark Aether space station, possibly some war-torn or exotic locales. 

  • Easter eggs and hidden story content: Given the franchise’s history and the hints about “when reality ends” and “familiar faces / alternate versions,” many expect elaborate Easter eggs and story-reveals tied into the modes.
