Jetpacks Set To Return In COD?

After wall running was discovered hidden in the Black Ops 6 files, dataminers have now uncovered jetpacks, sparking concerns that this feature might make a return in COD 2025.

The jetpack era of Call of Duty, spanning from 2014 to 2016, remains one of the most controversial chapters in the franchise. During this time, the series shifted from its realistic roots to a futuristic style of gameplay, allowing players to soar through the air. While games like Black Ops 3 gained a loyal following, many fans were eager for the return of boots-on-the-ground combat, which finally happened with COD: WWII in 2017.

Black Ops 6 reintroduced high mobility, including omnimovement, a feature expected to be a key element in future Call of Duty titles, especially in the Black Ops series. This includes COD 2025, rumored to be a sequel to Black Ops 2. However, the game may put an even greater emphasis on movement than originally anticipated, as dataminers have discovered jetpacks in the Black Ops 6 files.

Earlier leaks had already suggested that COD 2025 might feature wall running, and when this was found in the BO6 files during Season 3 Reloaded, many assumed it was being tested for the upcoming title. Further digging revealed a double jump mechanic, evoking the movement seen in the jetpack-era games. Social media videos show players performing a double jump and chaining it with wall running, showcasing incredible aerial mobility.

The big question now is why these features have appeared in the Black Ops 6 files. Some speculate that an in-game event involving jetpacks and wall running might be on the way, while others believe they are being tested for COD 2025. However, until Activision officially reveals what Call of Duty 2025 will entail and the purpose of these features, all of this remains speculation.
