MW4 Leaks Suggest Omnimovement Is Dead

A new wave of Modern Warfare 4 leaks has the Call of Duty community fired up — and not in a good way for omnimovement fans.

Over the past week, multiple credible leakers have lined up to say the same thing: Infinity Ward's MW4 is reportedly cutting omnimovement entirely and reverting to something much closer to Modern Warfare 2 (2022). Slower pace, no diving in every direction, and a return to traditional ADS and recoil patterns.

The leaks have already kicked off massive arguments across r/ModernWarfareIV, r/CallOfDuty, and the wider community. Some players are calling it the best news they've heard all year, others are calling it a step backwards into the era they specifically left behind.

"It's basically MW2 with a fresh coat of paint"

According to a network of trusted leakers — including TheGhostOfHope, HeyImAlex, and Crashy — the current build of MW4 plays like an updated MW2, complete with weapon platforms, fewer attachments that actually matter, and movement that sits somewhere between MW2 and MW3.

The reasoning being floated is that Infinity Ward's studio heads were never sold on omnimovement to begin with. It was a Treyarch innovation that landed in Black Ops 6 and carried over into Black Ops 7. IW reportedly wanted to bring things back to what they call "core CoD movement."

That's gone down about as well as you'd expect on Reddit. One side argues that omnimovement made the game too chaotic and rewarded sweaty movement over gunfights. The other side points out that MW2's slower pace is exactly why a chunk of players bounced off the franchise three years ago.

It's also worth noting Activision has issued cease and desist letters to several leakers recently — which, predictably, has only made the community more convinced the leaks are accurate.

For now, none of this is confirmed. But with rumors pointing to a reveal in late May or at Summer Game Fest on June 7, we shouldn't have to wait much longer to see if Infinity Ward really is hitting the rewind button on movement.
