Communication between professional players and the Modern Warfare developers has ignited frustrations for CDL players and fans. While Activision has tried to maintain esports support through the league, the game itself has not. Many professional players have slammed the title, with some calling it the worst in the franchise. And with no official Ranked mode and other esports support, players and fans are already looking forward to 2020’s submission.
With Treyarch’s latest addition to the series coming later this year, many are hopeful that esports features are accurately implemented, and more importantly, supported by developers.
According to Chance “Maux” Monicivaez of the Florida Mutineers, talks between Treyarch and players have focused on a “competitive philosophy” and that fans should “stay hopeful.”
He stated on Reddit: “The devs over at Treyarch are really interested in making next year a great year for competitive, and I’m being 100% serious.” He continued, “I know how hopeless some of you are but all I want is for us as a community to get excited and to get behind and support the devs over at Treyarch.”
No details on the Call of Duty 2020 title have been officially released as of yet. However, rumors suggest the title to be a soft reboot of the Black Ops series, and could span the Cold War and possibly the Vietnam war era.
