This fan-favorite map is making a big comeback, now enhanced and fully integrated into the extraction experience, alongside major gameplay changes and seasonal content.

Season 4, titled Eternal Prison, launches April 22 at 5 PM PT and introduces a wide range of additions — from new weapons and classes to a full Monsterverse-themed collaboration inspired by Godzilla and Kong.

Rebirth Island Comes to DMZ: Recon

Rebirth Island joins DMZ: Recon with a fresh twist on the classic map. Expect visual upgrades across the board, including improved lighting, updated environments, and enhanced points of interest, making it feel like a true evolution beyond Alcatraz.

One of the biggest changes is how the Prison area works. The outer zone becomes a high-risk combat hotspot, and unlike Battle Royale, the prison gates must be manually activated. Once triggered, a global alarm sounds, and after a short countdown, all gates open briefly before locking again — creating intense, high-stakes opportunities for players willing to take the risk.

New Extraction System & Boss Fight

Extraction gets a major overhaul with a new dual-terminal system. Players must activate two terminals to begin the extraction process. The first extraction in a match triggers a boss encounter, while later extractions follow the standard helicopter format.

The boss? Nikto. He appears on the prison rooftop equipped with a Riot Shield and backed by aerial support, making escape anything but easy.

Dynamic Threats & New Loot

Danger isn’t limited to the ground. A submarine patrols the waters around the island, launching missiles at players caught in its sights. Meanwhile, a radiation event introduces a creeping gas zone that closes in from the shoreline, eventually forcing everyone toward the prison.

Loot has also been upgraded with a new tier system inspired by the periodic table. High-value “Ultimate-tier” items offer massive rewards, especially the rarest elements.

On top of that, a new crafting system lets players combine materials to create gear and weapons, adding another layer of strategy to each run.

Battle Royale Updates on Rebirth Island

Rebirth Island also arrives in Battle Royale with several gameplay improvements:

• Unlimited respawns as long as your squad is still alive
• UAV Towers to reveal enemy positions
• Contracts that reward you for completing objectives
• Buy Stations for purchasing gear and Killstreaks
• New Killstreaks like Bomb Drones, Attack Drones, and Precision Airstrikes
• A new victory exfil animation to show off your win

Seasonal Events & Rewards

Season 4 introduces multiple events, including Operation Rebirth, where completing objectives earns Intelligence Ciphers that gradually reveal the map and unlock rewards — from useful items to exclusive operator skins.

There’s also a major Godzilla x Kong event featuring themed rewards like weapon blueprints, operator skins, and a special mini-game where players collect energy to harness Titan powers.

Cache Frenzy returns as well, allowing players to earn over 100 Secret Caches and unlock powerful weapons, including the legendary PP19 Bizon — Mayan Malediction. Weekly regions rotate with new challenges and rewards, encouraging players to stay active throughout the season.

New Battle Pass & Gear

The Eternal Prison Battle Pass includes both free and premium tiers packed with content.

Free tiers feature the new DP27 LMG, known for its high damage and large magazine, along with other rewards.

Premium tiers offer exclusive operator skins and weapon blueprints, including themed designs and variants tied to the season’s style.

A new Battle Royale class, Toxic Overload, lets players control space by spreading radiation that slows and damages enemies — perfect for locking down key areas.

Store Updates & Mythic Content

The in-game store is also getting a major refresh. Highlights include:

• A Mythic version of the DP27 with a dark, supernatural design
• Godzilla-themed and Kong-inspired operator skins
