Huge Stim Nerf Changes Warzone

It appears that Warzone developers at Raven Software are taking another major step to eliminate gas plays, introducing a significant Stim nerf and disabling Supply Boxes located inside the gas.

Gas plays have long been part of Warzone, with players using the closing gas zone to escape dangerous situations or set up unexpected flanks. However, Stims and other equipment have allowed players to survive outside the safe zone far longer than intended.

The developers have already implemented several changes aimed at reducing extended time spent in the gas, yet the strategy remains common in Ranked Play and competitive matches. Many games have ended in a "Stim-off," where the player who stockpiles the most resources and survives in the gas the longest ultimately wins.

That is set to change in Season 4 Reloaded. Players will no longer be able to access Supply Boxes deep inside the gas, and Stims have received a substantial nerf.

Warzone developers target gas plays again in Season 4 Reloaded

The biggest change announced is the disabling of Supply Boxes located deep within the gas. According to the developers, "Looting deep in the gas was creating unintended gameplay patterns and disproportionately rewarding players who remained outside the playable area."

The distance considered "deep within the gas" now changes as each match progresses:

  • Circle 1: 40 meters (unchanged)
  • Circle 2: 30 meters
  • Circle 3 and beyond: 25 meters

The developers explained that this dynamic scaling better matches the pace of each phase of a match and helps reduce excessive gas play during endgame situations.

However, the biggest change may be the nerf to Stims. While inside the gas, Stim health regeneration is now reduced by 40%, meaning players will need to use nearly twice as many Stims to achieve the same effect.

The developers explained that Stims had been allowing players to survive in the gas for extended periods and encouraged strategies that bypassed the intended pressure of the closing circle. By reducing their effectiveness in the gas, the team aims to reinforce the importance of positioning while still preserving Stims as a useful tool during combat.

As a result, Stim supplies will run out much more quickly, while the chances of finding additional Stims or Munitions Boxes through Supply Boxes have been significantly reduced.
