Modder Turns CoD Zombies Into Crossover

A dedicated modder has gained access to the World at War Zombies source code and ported it to a browser-based platform, giving them the freedom to experiment with wild creative additions. The project has spawned an increasingly absurd collection of mashups that blend iconic gaming franchises into the classic survival mode.

The modder started with functional crossovers like integrating Portal 2's portal gun into the Mystery Box, allowing players to create working portals for map navigation. From there, things escalated quickly. Lightsabers from Star Wars, Among Us character skins, and Mario Kart mechanics complete with banana peel traps all found their way into zombie-slaying scenarios. One particularly ambitious mod introduced Fortnite's building system, enabling players to construct defensive walls mid-match.

The creativity didn't stop with video games. Sports crossovers followed, featuring playable characters transformed into NFL athletes, NHL hockey stars, and Wii Sports competitors equipped with boxing gloves, bowling balls, and baseball bats. Teammate bots also received makeovers, sporting appearances of Master Chief, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Rick and Morty characters. Each video showcased surprisingly functional implementations rather than simple cosmetic swaps.

Currently, these modifications remain exclusive personal projects rather than public mods, but they demonstrate the potential for wild franchise collaborations within established gaming engines. For competitive players interested in modding and game design, the project illustrates both technical skill and creative ambition in action.
