Modern Warfare (2019) Return

2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has a Steam player count higher than Black Ops 7 and Warzone combined after the price was reduced.

Although  Black Ops 7 is the most recent game in the Call of Duty series, there are still plenty of players who like to revisit the older titles in the series. This could be for a quick hit of nostalgia, or because they fell in love with that particular game’s flavor.

One of the most important entries in the franchise is 2019’s Modern Warfare, which introduced many features that are still present to this day, not to mention that it was also the one to introduce Warzone.

Now, thousands of players are heading back to this vital game from CoD’s history, and it’s already overtaken BO7.

Seven-year-old CoD overtakes Black Ops 7 & Warzone on Steam

On March 19, Modern Warfare (2019) was part of a Steam sale, where the price was slashed to just $6. It appears that plenty of fans couldn’t resist the deal, as it quickly shot up the charts.

According to SteamDB, it had a 24-hour peak of 33,451 and within 24 hours of the sale, while the main Call of Duty app had just over 28,000 players on the platform. Now, at the time of writing, it hit a new peak of 61,667 as players jumped in over the weekend, while the CoD app managed just over 50,000.

The Call of Duty app is home to Black Ops 7, Black Ops 6, and Warzone, meaning that the nearly seven-year-old game has more people on it than the two most recent multiplayers and the free-to-play battle royale combined.

What makes it even more impressive is that this comes just over a week after the Season 2 reloadedupdate, which brought new guns, maps, and Black Ops Royale

Of course, the Steam numbers represent a small part of a game’s popularity, as there will be plenty more people enjoying Black Ops 7 and Warzone on console and Battle.net.
