Ninja Just Keeps Making History

These days it seems like if you spent any time on the internet at all, yet alone Twitch.tv, you’ve probably heard of Tyler Blevins or as he’s more commonly known, Ninja. Ninja is one of Twitch’s most popular streamers with the most followers on the website. His daily streams each bring in over 100,000 viewers which by far are some of the best concurrent viewership the website has seen especially for a single streamer and not a tournament or esport league. The man is everywhere and it makes sense. Ninja racks up 10 plus kills in a game of Fortnite like its nothing and let’s not forget about that time he played, with Drake, Travis Scott, and NFL player Juju Smith-Schuster, subsequently setting a Twitch record with 635,000 viewers (a record that has since been surpassed.) Ninja’s popularity has skyrocketed to unbelievable heights in seemingly a short amount of time. However, although it may seem like Ninja’s popularity has come out of thin air, he has actually been around since the start of Twitch.

Years ago before Twitch was a primarily gaming focused streaming site, it went by the name Justin.tv. This platform is where Tyler Blevins would actually start his streaming career as a professional Halo player. After making a huge name for himself in the pro Halo scene, Ninja would eventually switch over to H1Z1 and the then immensely popular PUBG. Of course, as we now know a little PVE game called Fortnite would eventually create a free to play Battle Royale mode and Ninja was one of the first to hop on the bandwagon. Since then Ninja’s personality and incredible Fortnite skills have caused him to become an internet sensation. You can find Ninja everywhere from Youtube compilations to even Worldstarhiphop, and his social media numbers reflect this as he sits at 2 Million followers on Twitter, 3.6 on Instagram, and 10 million subscribers on Youtube. In a recent tweet sent out by Ninja, he mentions that he thinks he’s set a record for receiving the coveted Diamond Play Button (Given out to Youtubers for reaching over 10 million subscribers) in the shortest amount of time.

Ninja’s popularity shows a new peak in terms of how far a Twitch streamer can go, as he is probably the most well-known and highest paid on the platform. For those of us heavily invested in the world of Twitch, it will be fascinating to see just how popular he can get or if anyone can actually surpass his insane daily viewership numbers. For now, many congratulations are in order for the man taking Twitch to new heights.
