A popular Black Ops 7 scorestreak is still being called useless months after launch, despite being highly effective in previous Call of Duty titles.
Over the past few years, Call of Duty has introduced several multiplayer changes, including a major overhaul to killstreaks by replacing them with scorestreaks.
In Black Ops 7, these scorestreaks have sparked plenty of debate. Some are viewed as overly powerful, while others have fallen short of player expectations.
The EMP, a staple since the original Modern Warfare 2 released in 2009, falls into the latter category, with many players arguing that it is currently “useless” and in need of a buff.
Black Ops 7’s EMP labeled “useless” even with Overclocks
That criticism comes from a number of players on social media, who argue the EMP should be far more effective.
“EMP is the most useless non-lethal scorestreak,” Redditor mudiii- wrote. “Enemy DAWG isn’t getting destroyed. Field upgrades such as the Scrambler are still active. What is this scorestreak supposed to do?”
Others echoed the sentiment, claiming the Overclocks fail to improve it.
“It’s so unfortunate that it’s garbage. Its second Overclock doesn’t seem to work either,” one player said.
“It was definitely more powerful in MW3 since you didn’t need an Overclock for it to be decent,” another added.
One player pointed to how dominant the EMP was in older titles.
“EMP should completely shut down every killstreak, field upgrade, laser, sight, and everything else. I remember in MW2 (2009), it would literally remove the red dot from your sight or make thermal scopes display that weird grainy texture.”
