Treyarch has announced plans to remove aim assist from sniper rifles in Ranked Play in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. The change has not gone live yet. The developers confirmed it as part of upcoming competitive balance updates.
Aim assist helps controller players keep their crosshair on a target. It slows or adjusts aim when aiming at an enemy. This makes it easier to land shots. Once Treyarch removes aim assist, sniper players will need to rely on manual aim.
This planned change aims to improve competitive balance. Sniper rifles can eliminate players in one shot, which makes precision critical. Removing aim assist will increase the skill needed to use these weapons in Ranked Play.
Players will need strong crosshair placement, timing, and accuracy to succeed with sniper rifles. This may reduce the number of sniper users in ranked matches. Some players may switch to assault rifles or submachine guns for more consistent results.
Treyarch has not confirmed an exact release date for the change. The developers plan to include it in a future Ranked Play update. They will continue to monitor feedback and adjust balance as needed.
