Black Ops 7 Freerun Returns

Season 3 of Black Ops 7 is bringing a bunch of fresh content, including the return of the fan-favorite Freerun mode.

This mode is expected to drop in the mid-season update, likely arriving in late April or early May. Freerun will feature 10 players competing against each other, using advanced movement skills to race through obstacles and reach the finish line first.

Veteran Call of Duty players might remember Freerun from Black Ops 3, where it was more of a solo time-trial experience. Players had to navigate complex obstacle courses using jetpack movement, while also hitting targets along the way—missing them would add time penalties.

Although Freerun hasn’t been seen since Black Ops 3, Modern Warfare (2023) introduced Get High, which felt like a similar concept. However, unlike Get High, the original Freerun focused on solo runs against the clock. The Black Ops 7 version is expected to blend both styles into something new.

The mode will take place on a brand-new map called Ascent, designed specifically for Freerun. It includes 10 unique zones packed with challenging obstacles, big jumps, and very little room for mistakes.

On top of that, a special Freerun event will launch alongside the mode, offering players the chance to unlock exclusive weapon camos and other rewards.

And that’s not all—Season 3 also adds even more content. Classic maps like Plaza from Black Ops 2 and Gridlock from Black Ops 4 are returning on April 2, along with new weapons like the MK35 ISR Assault Rifle and the VST SMG, which will be available through the Battle Pass.
