Fan-fav CoD scorestreak is still useless

A popular Black Ops 7 scorestreak is still “useless” months after the game launched, despite being pretty powerful in previous CoD titles.

Over the last few years, Call of Duty has tweaked a few different things on the multiplayer side of the game. Amongst those changes, killstreaks have gone under the knife, being turned into scorestreaks.

In Black Ops 7, these scorestreaks have caused a fair few headaches. Some have been deemed to be too powerful in-game, while others aren’t at the level that plenty of players believe they should be.

The EMP, which has been around since the original Modern Warfare 2 launched in 2009, falls into the second lot of those, with fans believing it is “useless” right now and in need of some love.

Black Ops 7’s EMP is “useless” even with Overclocks

That’s according to a number of players on social media, who claim that the EMP should be way more effective.

“EMP is the most useless non-lethal scorestreak,” Redditor mudiii- said. “Enemies DAWG is not getting destroyed. Field upgrades such as the scrambler are still active. What is this scorestreak supposed to do?”

Others chimed in, stating that the Overclocks don’t even help the EMP. “It’s so damn unfortunate that it’s garbage. Its second overclock doesn’t seem to work, either,” one said. “It was definitely more powerful in MW3 since you didn’t need an overclock for it to be decent,” another added.

“EMP should just s*it on every kill streak/field upgrade, laser, sight, etc. I remember in mw2 (09) the nukes would literally take the red dot off your sight or make your thermal scope have this weird grainy color texture,” another said.

Others noted that you can actually wipe the debuffs of the EMP with an overclocked Stim.

“The worst part is stim cleanse completely full counters it! Overclock on that stops enemies from using field upgrade or streaks? Doesn’t matter, one stim its effect is wiped,” one added.

It remains to be seen if the devs will make a change moving forward, but it’s not the first popular scorestreak that’s been flagged as ineffective.
