Just a few weeks after Epic Games announced it was shutting down three Fortnite modes, a new leak suggests they’re actually working on a lot more behind the scenes.
Back on March 24, it was confirmed that Ballistic, Rocket Racing, and Festival Battle Stage would all be removed. Ballistic and Festival Battle Stage are set to go offline on April 6, while Rocket Racing will stick around a bit longer until October.
At first, it looked like this meant Fortnite would have fewer modes overall—but that might not be the case at all.
According to a trusted leaker known as Loolo, there are reportedly seven brand-new modes currently in development. None of them have official names yet, only codenames, but there are some details about what they could be like.
One of them, WickedSmoke, is described as a “social-first” experience, similar to Delulu. Another called UnableRoman is said to be a more classic Team Deathmatch-style mode.
There are also two Lego-themed modes in the works. Rivalry is expected to feature pilotable mechs, while CurioBox sounds like a social roleplay mode, similar to Brick Life.
On top of that, there’s a new Reload-style mode coming. This is Fortnite’s smaller, faster battle royale format (kind of like Resurgence in Warzone), and it will reportedly include a new map codenamed MatchMist.
Two other modes, Bulldog and Husky, are believed to be connected to the Disney collaboration that’s been in development for a while now.
The most interesting one, though, is BabyCorgi. According to the leak, it’s likely linked to Ballistic. Since Ballistic is being shut down soon, this could be Epic’s way of replacing it with something similar.
Even though Ballistic didn’t pull in massive player numbers, it did build a dedicated fanbase. Some creators, like Typical Gamer, even offered to take it over to keep it alive. But based on this leak, it looks like Epic may already be working on a new mode that fills that same gap.
