Modern Warfare 4's DMZ mode is expanding significantly with Season 1, introducing X01, a claustrophobic underground weapons facility that will test even veteran players. This new area represents a major shift from the open-world design of the existing Hajin region, forcing squads into tight corridors, multiple floors, and interconnected chambers built beneath North Korea's northern border.
The facility layout creates a fundamentally different tactical challenge compared to current DMZ maps. Players will navigate dark tunnels and confined spaces while contending with AI-controlled enemy forces from the 100 Spirits NK Faction, dangerous specialist units, and opposing player squads all hunting for the same objectives. The multi-floor design means threats can emerge from any direction, demanding constant awareness and coordinated team positioning.
X01 will feature exclusive loot unavailable anywhere else in DMZ, incentivizing squads to brave its dangers for rare rewards. Season 1 also brings a substantial refresh to the mission system with multiple new DMZ Orders, many of which will send players directly into the facility to complete objectives. The enhanced challenge level and environmental hazards promise a fresh competitive experience beyond what Hajin currently offers.
When Season 1 launches on November 6, competitive squads should prepare for a drastically different extraction experience. The underground facility's confined design and concentrated enemy density will separate skilled teams from casual players, making X01 essential territory for anyone serious about DMZ progression.
