The Latest News on the Call of Duty Film

The latest information has been revealed! Information regarding the future release of the “Call of Duty” film and what we can expect in comparison to other war movies. The director gives us his input!

The movie was first spoken of with the introduction of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, the Activision Blizzard Studios announced they would begin to produce films and shows in relevance with the various franchises of Activision.

As of today, we have only seen one project, and it has been since 2016. That project that has been released, known as "Skylanders Academy”- a Netflix series is currently going into its third season! However, a “Call of Duty” feature film has been said to be developed, and with a release date of late 2018 or early 2019.

In February, we learned that “Sicario: War of the Cartels” Director, Stefano Sollima, was a sought after asset of a Call of Duty film. If this is likely, we will be able to see future installments and a large web of cinematic connections for us to pry on.

When Sollima was promoting “Sicario: War of the Cartels,” he answered questions from a movie blog of how a Call of Duty film would be different and how he would make it stand out rather than be another war movie. "I think it's more the idea, the concept of telling the story of a soldier, it's something you have not seen much, there have been many war movies, but no soldier's movie.” He later referenced a change in the nature of the game when transitioning it to the big screen. “I think the movie has to be a totally different experience from any video game, so in order to make a good movie based on a video game, you have to betray the structure. a video game, you have to create something that is completely new and a great movie.”

As of right now, we do not know when the Call of Duty movie will be released, or who would star in it, but, we do have some favorites!
