Warzone Season 2 start date

Warzone Season 2 is the next major update coming to the Cod battle royale, bringing a new-look Rebirth Island and a host of new content.

Season 1 was a massive update for Warzone. Not only did it bring every Black ops 7 multiplayer weapon to the game, but it also came with a brand-new Resurgence map, followed by a hotly anticipated Fallout crossover in the mid season patch

But that was just the beginning, as Raven Software has plenty in store for players in 2026. This all starts with Season 2, which is set to be yet another major patch.

Here’s everything we know about Warzone Season 2 so far, including when it arrives.

Warzone Season 2 release date

The Warzone Season 2 update arrives on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Not only is this when the Season 1 Battle Pass expires, but the devs confirmed the date in an X post on January 27.

Updates usually drop at 9 am PT / 12 pm ET / 5 pm BST, with preload available a few days before.

Winter Rebirth Island

One of the biggest additions coming in Season 2 is the refreshed Rebirth Island. The Resurgence map is getting a wintery makeover, which covers most of Alcatraz in snow to give it a completely different look and feel.

The update also adds a new POI next to the docks, based on a Guild facility from the Black Ops 7 campaign.

Ranked returns

Raven has confirmed that the Ranked resurgence will reurnt shortly after the start of season 2. However, this time, instead of taking place on the iconic Rebirth Island map, it will use the new Heaven’s Hollow map added in Season 1.

The devs also revealed that a new competitive mode is coming called Iron Gauntlet. This successor to Iron Trials will be set on Verdansk and ramp up the difficulty, coming with its own rules for health, loot, and loadouts.

These two modes will be rotated regularly going forward, meaning only one will be active at any given time.

Blackout-inspired mode?

All the way back at CoD Next in late 2025, it was revealed that a new experience based on black ops 4 blackout mode   is in the works. It was slated to drop in Spring 2026, and we haven’t heard anything about it since, but there’s a chance it could come in Season 2.

However, nothing has been officially confirmed just yet, so it’s possible that it will come later as part of the mid-season update or even sometime in Season 3.

Details surrounding the mode are pretty scarce right now, but we do know that it will take place on Avalon, the big map that many fans thought would replace Verdansk and was used for BO7’s Endgame mode.

New Operator

Activision confirmed a new Operator, Victoria Atwood, will arrive with Season 2. This “neural scientist” with “deadly tech” is expected to be available in the Battle Pass.

Expected content

Although we’re still waiting for full details of what’s in store, there are certain additions that come with every new season. Here’s what to expect:

  • New weapons
  • New Battle Pass
  • Weapon buffs and nerfs
  • Events
  • Operator skins

We’ll be sure to update this page with a full breakdown of what’s coming in the update as soon as we know more. In the meantime, be sure to check out what we know about Black ops 7
