Why Assault Rifles Dominate in BO6
Assault Rifles have always been a staple of Call of Duty, and Black Ops 6 continues that tradition. These weapons combine versatility with power, making them reliable choices across maps and modes.
That said, not every AR is equal. Some absolutely shred in multiplayer, while others struggle to keep up. With Season 5 Reloaded bringing a new wave of buffs and nerfs, it’s more important than ever to know which rifles are worth running.
Below, you’ll find the top Assault Rifle loadouts in Black Ops 6, along with a ranking of every AR and a quick breakdown of the Season 5 meta.
Best Assault Rifle Loadouts
1. CR-56 AMAX

Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip
The CR-56 AMAX tops the list thanks to its raw damage output. Despite its power, it has surprisingly manageable recoil, giving it an edge over harder-to-control rifles like the AK-74.
It shines in close to mid-range fights—perfect for the fast-paced action Black Ops 6 is known for. The recommended attachments keep it steady so its blistering TTK can do the work.
2. FFAR 1

Muzzle: Compensator

Barrel: Long Barrel
-
Underbarrel: G-Grip
-
Rear Grip: Ergonomic Grip
The FFAR 1 plays like a hybrid between an AR and an SMG. Its lightning-fast fire rate gives it unmatched close-range potential, while the right attachments extend its reach into mid-range fights.
The downside is recoil management—it can be tricky to control at range—but once mastered, it’s one of the most dangerous guns in the game.
3. XM4

-
Stock: Buffer Weight Stock
The XM4 has always been a fan-favorite for its accuracy, and with the Buffer Weight Stock, it’s easier to control than ever. Combine that with solid damage, and you’ve got a weapon that can adapt to any situation.
It may not out-damage the AMAX or outpace the FFAR, but its balance of accuracy and power makes it one of the safest, most reliable picks in Season 5.
4. Krig C

-
Fire Mods: Recoil Springs
The Krig C is an all-rounder—accurate, consistent, and dependable. Its recoil is easy to manage with the right setup, and its hip-fire performance is slightly better than most ARs.
It doesn’t quite reach XM4 levels of precision, but it has enough damage to stay competitive.
5. Model L

Fire Mods: Recoil Springs
If accuracy is your top priority, the Model L is your gun. With attachments that tame its vertical recoil, it becomes laser-precise, even at long range.
It feels similar to the beloved MCW from last year’s title, though not quite as dominant. The suppressor keeps you off the radar, making this build deadly for stealthy players.

Season 5 Meta Breakdown
In Season 5, the CR-56 AMAX is the clear front-runner thanks to its insane damage and forgiving recoil. The FFAR 1 comes close with its absurd fire rate, while the XM4 remains the most versatile option in the entire game.
The Krig C and Model L are still strong picks but don’t quite hit the consistency of the XM4. Meanwhile, rifles like the Kilo 141 and AMES 85 are good but overshadowed by better-balanced guns.
The ABR A1 (AUG) has some potential in mid-range fights but lacks the kill speed of other ARs, while the Goblin Mk2 can melt enemies but is harder to master.
As for the AS VAL and AK-74, both hit hard but come with enough drawbacks to keep them out of the true meta. The Cypher 091 and GPR 91 unfortunately lag behind due to weak damage profiles.
