OpTic Gaming Defeat Team Heretics to Win Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Esports World Cup

OpTic Gaming have been crowned Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Esports World Cup champions after defeating Team Heretics 5-3 in the Grand Finals.

The championship series featured plenty of momentum swings, with OpTic taking an early lead before Heretics fought their way back into the matchup. However, OpTic ultimately proved too strong, closing out the series on Den Hardpoint to secure the EWC title.

OpTic Take Control Early

OpTic opened the Grand Finals with a strong performance on Frequency Hardpoint. Heretics kept the map competitive, but OpTic created enough separation down the stretch to take the opening map 250-198.

Things became much more one-sided on Sake Search and Destroy.

OpTic completely controlled the second map, cruising to a dominant 6-1 victory and quickly building a 2-0 advantage in the series.

Heretics desperately needed a response, and they found one in an incredibly close Scar Overload.

Neither team was able to pull away as the map went all the way down to the wire. Heretics eventually edged out OpTic 6-5, securing their first map of the Grand Finals and cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Heretics Level the Series

The momentum continued for Team Heretics when the series remained on Scar for Map 4.

Scar Hardpoint turned into one of the closest respawns of the Grand Finals. OpTic pushed Heretics all the way to the final moments, but Heretics held on for a 250-241 victory.

After dropping the opening two maps, Heretics had suddenly won back-to-back maps and tied the Grand Finals at 2-2.

OpTic responded immediately.

Raid Search and Destroy looked remarkably similar to the earlier Sake SnD, with OpTic once again dominating the mode. A 6-1 victory put OpTic back ahead 3-2 and moved them within two maps of the championship.

OpTic Move to Championship Point

Map 6 took the teams to Den for Overload, and OpTic delivered another convincing performance.

Heretics were unable to replicate their success from the first Overload of the series as OpTic controlled Den and secured a 6-2 victory.

The result gave OpTic a commanding 4-2 advantage and put them on championship point.

Heretics were not finished yet.

Facing elimination on Den Search and Destroy, Heretics produced one of their most important performances of the tournament. OpTic kept the map close, but Heretics eventually closed it out 6-4 to force an eighth map.

OpTic Close Out the Championship

The Grand Finals stayed on Den for Map 8, this time moving to Hardpoint.

With the EWC championship on the line, OpTic made sure there would be no further comeback.

OpTic established control of the map and prevented Heretics from creating another late-series swing. They reached the 250-point mark with Heretics sitting at 183, winning Den Hardpoint 250-183 and securing the Grand Finals 5-3.

Heretics showed plenty of resilience after falling behind 2-0 and again when facing championship point at 4-2, but OpTic consistently found answers whenever the series began to turn.

Their dominant Search and Destroy performances proved particularly important, with OpTic winning Sake and Raid by identical 6-1 scorelines. Combined with victories across Hardpoint and Overload, it was enough for OpTic Gaming to finish their EWC run on top and leave as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Esports World Cup champions.
