Call of Duty: Warzone players are voicing their frustration after Raven Software removed the Black Ops Royale Solos playlist as part of the game's latest update. The decision comes just months after the mode was introduced following heavy community demand.
Black Ops Royale launched as a throwback to the classic Blackout experience, offering a more traditional battle royale formula with looting, weapon rarity tiers, and fewer modern Warzone mechanics. However, when the mode first arrived, it was only available in Quads, leading to widespread criticism from solo players. Raven Software eventually responded by adding a dedicated Solos playlist in March.
With the release of Season 4, that playlist has now been removed. Standard Battle Royale Solos has returned to the rotation, but Black Ops Royale Solos is no longer available. According to the developers, playlist changes are often made to maintain matchmaking health and concentrate players into a smaller number of modes.
The reaction from the community has been largely negative. Many players on social media and Reddit argued that Black Ops Royale offered a unique experience compared to traditional Warzone and that Solos was the best way to enjoy it without relying on random teammates. Some fans described the removal as another example of Warzone's constantly changing playlist system, which frequently rotates popular modes in and out of availability.
Others are concerned that the mode's disappearance could signal a broader reduction in support for Black Ops Royale. The mode has already been temporarily removed from playlists before, only to return later, leaving some players hopeful that Solos could make a comeback in a future update.
For now, players who prefer to drop into Warzone alone will need to stick with the standard Battle Royale Solos playlist while they wait to see whether Raven Software brings Black Ops Royale Solos back in a future rotation.
