Division 2's Release in March 2019

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is set to release before the end of this financial year according to Ubisoft. This places the release window somewhere around March 2019. The popular online shooter sequel was announced in early March this year and has fans excited to get back into Tom’s boots.

While The Division 2 brings an improved gameplay to their co-op system, users can choose to play the game solo. The entire campaign can be experienced without someone else entering your world, this was confirmed by Ubisoft Massive to Aus Gamers,  they were careful to emphasize that there is no ‘right or wrong’ way of playing the game.

This approach toward gameplay is no different from the first Division, which was designed for single player, but it allowed players to initiate co-op matchmaking with two, three or four other people. In contrast, Destiny has players running into each other’s world without any prior invitation to their session.

How it was all revealed

The Division 2 was first revealed through stock website 4-Traders in March 2018. This was obviously met with a lot of skepticism, but Ubisoft quickly followed it up by confirming the game’s existence in a livestream.

The original developer, Massive Entertainment will be collaborating with Red Storm Entertainment and a slew of other Ubisoft studios including Reflections, Anney and Bucharest to make sure that the new game experience is their best effort yet. The game will be running on an updated version of the Snowdrop engine, which was used for the first game. Snowdrop is a proprietary video game engine created by Ubisoft.

Players can see the results of their actions on the world and its civilians which changes dynamically. The same applies to co-op players, this mechanic has become a large part of the sequel, involving both objectives and quests into intricately designed stories show the struggles and lives of Washington DC’s citizens.

Ubisoft Massive hopes that this unique approach to the video game would make it more believable to players, as well as more vibrant compared to the dead streets of the first game. We also know that several gameplay mechanics will be added and improved upon. Most of these changes concern the overall gameplay involving significant overhauls to the weapon mods system and the introduction of new gear brand sets.

Director Mathias Karlson explicitly mentioned that players can go through the entire story campaign into end game alone. This development is exciting news for single player fans who want to explore the title’s Washington D.C setting by themselves.

In an era where more shooters are shifting toward multiplayer-only experiences – case in point Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 which will no longer feature a traditional single player campaign. This is a frustrating trend for fans of the single player experience, who will be delighted to know that The Division 2 is designed for fans from all backgrounds.
