Warzone's latest Stim nerf all but ends endgame gas strategies

Raven Software has introduced another round of changes aimed at reducing "gas play" tactics in Warzone, making it significantly harder for players to survive outside the safe zone during the closing moments of a match. The adjustments arrive as part of the Season 4 Reloaded update and target both Stim effectiveness and loot availability in the gas.

For years, experienced Warzone players have used the gas as a strategic tool, whether to reposition, surprise opponents, or even secure victories by outlasting everyone else with Stims and extra supplies. While Raven has previously limited these strategies, they have remained common in competitive and Ranked Play.

The latest update takes two major steps to curb the tactic.

Supply Boxes no longer work deep inside the gas

Players will no longer be able to access Supply Boxes once they are a certain distance into the gas. That distance now scales depending on the current circle:

  • Circle 1: 40 meters

  • Circle 2: 30 meters

  • Circle 3 and beyond: 25 meters

According to Raven Software, the change is intended to stop players from spending extended periods outside the playable area while repeatedly restocking equipment.

Stims receive a major reduction

The biggest change comes to Stims. While inside the gas, their health regeneration has been reduced by 40%, meaning players will burn through far more Stims than before to survive.

The developers say the adjustment reinforces proper positioning and ensures the encroaching gas remains a genuine threat rather than something players can reliably outheal. Stims will continue to function normally during regular combat, with the penalty applying specifically while inside the gas.

Community reaction

The changes have sparked mixed reactions among the Warzone community. Many players welcome the update, arguing that late-game "heal-offs" rewarded inventory management more than positioning or gun skill. Others believe the nerf goes too far and removes creative rotation opportunities that have long been part of Warzone's identity.

Whether these adjustments completely eliminate gas plays remains to be seen, but they represent Raven Software's strongest attempt yet to discourage endgame strategies built around surviving outside the circle.
