Modern Warfare 4 PS4 Leak

A new leak suggests that this year’s Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare 4, is currently being tested on last-generation consoles.

While Activision hasn’t officially announced the 2026 release yet, multiple leaks have already revealed several details about the game. Previous reports claimed that Modern Warfare 4 would partly take place in Korea and would reverse some gameplay changes introduced in Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7.

Earlier rumors also indicated that the game would skip older hardware entirely, making it the first Call of Duty title to launch only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, a new leak now suggests that may no longer be the plan.

According to well-known Call of Duty dataminer Alaix, Infinity Ward is reportedly testing Modern Warfare 4 on PlayStation 4 hardware. In a follow-up post on X, Alaix clarified that this doesn’t necessarily confirm a PS4 or Xbox One release, but the information quickly sparked backlash from fans online.

Many players expressed frustration at the possibility of another cross-generation release, arguing that the franchise should finally move beyond older consoles. Some fans believe continuing support for decade-old hardware is limiting the series technically, since the games still need to run smoothly on aging systems.

That said, the PS4 testing doesn’t automatically mean the game will officially launch on last-gen consoles. Infinity Ward could simply be using the hardware for internal testing purposes. More details will likely emerge once Modern Warfare 4 is officially revealed sometime in 2026.

At the same time, developers have recently cautioned fans against trusting every leak circulating online. This came after rumors surfaced claiming that Modern Warfare 4 is heavily similar to 2022’s Modern Warfare 2.

The latest leak also follows reports that this year’s Call of Duty entry may not arrive on Xbox Game Pass until roughly a year after its release.
